Spring 2020 Season Cancellation

The last update we sent out came after the latest county commissioner’s meeting this week in which all county fields were closed until July 31st. Since that meeting, the County Mayor, Steve Jones, has been working extremely hard to provide a way for us to be able to return to playing soccer by May 30 as long as the safety of everyone involved was not in jeopardy. Both parties were ready to attempt to open soccer back up May 30, until Governor Lee’s latest executive order was issued earlier today.

In executive order number 38 issued May 29, Governor Lee prohibits contact sports from returning to competitive play until at least June 30. He specifically mentions soccer in the order. Therefore, any hopes we had of having a spring soccer season are officially over.

We can’t fully express our gratitude to Mayor Steve Jones and the commissioners of Macon County for their attempts to provide a way for us to play on May 30. Unfortunately, the orders from the state Governor will prevent us from playing this spring.

That being said, we will be offering a partial refund for those that registered for this spring season. For those that choose to receive the refund, we will be issuing checks Saturday, May 30, at the concession stand at our soccer fields from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. This will be the only opportunity you have to collect the refund. We will not issue any refunds after Saturday.

The amount of the refund will be $25. From your $50 fees, the amount that went towards the jerseys that each player received was $18. Another $6 went towards insurance that we are required to pay per player to TSSA. We have incurred many expenses that we could deduct from the refund, but we have decided to attempt to refund as much of your $50 that we possibly can.

Again, there will only be one opportunity to receive your refund. It’s Saturday, May 30, from 8:00 - 12:00 at the Macon County Soccer League concession stand. We will not issue refunds at any other time.

We are greatly disappointed that we couldn’t offer a spring season this year.  Please know that we have tried every way possible to get a season in, but due to the Governor’s orders we will not be able to have one.

Thank you for your patience these past few weeks and months. We will be posting information soon about director nominations and elections, as well as information about the fall season.
